Bansko is a town and ski resort in southwestern Bulgaria, located at the foot of the Pirin Mountain, at an altitude of 925 m above sea level. Bansko is considered to be the most developed Ski and Winter Resort in Eastern Europe, and is one of the best in Europe.
Bansko is situated 160 km from the Bulgarian capital, Sofia and Sofia International airport serves Bansko. You can fly into Sofia from many cities in Europe including Athens, Larnaca, Vienna and Frankfurt. The healing effects of the thermal springs in these mountains have been famous since ancient times. There are more than 70 hot mineral water springs in Banya with average temperature of 58º C.
