Pärnu is a city in southwestern Estonia on the coast of Pärnu Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Riga in the Baltic Sea. It is a popular summer vacation resort with many hotels, restaurants, and large beaches, the Pärnu River flows through the city which is very beautiful. Parnu has its own airport which is situated 4 km from the city of Pärnu. It is a small airport and only has a few flights landing into the airport, mostly private flights. If you cannot fly into Parnu then Tallinn Airport is approximately 130km away from Parnu. Flights come into Tallinn from many European cities including London-Stansted, Vienna and Barcelona. Pärnu is the best known Estonian resort, but it is more than just a summer city. It is also a place for conferences, theatre performances and concerts. Besides being a resort, Pärnu is also a hanseatic city, a harbour city and a university city. However, the sleepy rhythm of Pärnu changes completely when the flag of the Estonian summer capital starts flying high on the summer equinox – life on the beach, dozens of festivals, night clubs and the big party crowd that have moved here to have a great time. The city regains its sleepy atmosphere in autumn. Only students and schoolchildren can disturb this peace. Many people prefer this quiet Pärnu and spend autumn weekends relaxing in a spa with a conference or a trip to a cosy villa offering some peace and quiet.
